COVID-19 lockdown got you down? After weeks of self-quarantine, you have probably begun to miss friends, adventures in the outdoors, traveling, going to the gym, and all of the fun activities we could do pre-coronavirus.
With everyone on lockdown until further notice, your life has probably gone through some unexpected changes. It’s important to remember that we are all in this together. That’s why we’ve compiled a few solutions to help you live happier and healthier while isolated. Here are five challenges that will hopefully bring about more joy and less anxiety during these current times.
100 oz Challenge
There is (a not so new) trend going around where individuals try to drink 100 oz of water each day. You may recall, in 2015, Bustle ran an article of an individual who drank 96 oz of water every day for a week, which is supposedly the amount of water an average woman is supposed to drink daily. Although after one week she didn’t notice a huge difference, the woman did say she started making more healthy decisions, her headaches went away, and she stopped snacking as much. Leggings and Lattes reported that she drank less coffee and still had the same amount of energy, just by drinking more water.
We are jumping onto this challenge with our Glasstic water bottles! Make sure your Glasstic is by our side and every hour of that work day, try drinking a full cup of water.
Onhealth’s MD, Melissa Conrad Stöpple states that mild dehydration not only gives you bad breath but terrible mood swings of anger, confusion, and fatigue. Don’t have a Glasstic? We’ve got you covered. You can get your bottle today, online. Share with us your hydrating goals!
Museum Challenge
Getty Museum’s challenge has asked their online followers to recreate famous artwork with everyday household items. The internet responded with thousands of at-home masterpieces. The challenge? Look for three household items to recreate an art piece and post it to Twitter. Send it to your top three contacts to brighten up their day! Incorporate your Glasstic and share your designs with us on social! Not interested in this challenge? There are tons of individuals offering free art classes online during the coronavirus pandemic. NPR published a story earlier this year that discussed how art helps the brain. One of the ways: “creativity in and of itself is important for remaining healthy, remaining connected to yourself and connected to the world.”
Dance it Out Challenge
Love to dance? This may be the perfect challenge for you. Bonus, it’s a great workout, too! Create a 4-8 count choreography to your favorite song and share it by performing it in front of the family or recording it and posting online. Get your parents or grandma and grandpa to join in! CNN reported a study in which individuals ranging from 60-80 years old showed signs of slowed aging in brain scans showing more activity in the individuals instructed to dance. Make sure to have your Glasstic water bottle around to keep you hydrated.
Giving Thanks Challenge
Your next challenge, write a letter of gratitude to a local business that has stayed open during quarantine. Or maybe even a health care provider working on the frontlines! To enhance the good emotions, put it in a Glasstic water bottle and gift it to an employee-like a message in a bottle. Joel Wong, Ph.D. from Berekely writes that in the absence of negative emotions and thinking about positive emotions in a letter of gratitude, one can begin a process of extinguishing negative emotions, allowing the positivity to flow in.
Call Up a Friend or Loved One
This one is not so much a challenge, just a friendly reminder. We are all in this together and some of us are struggling. Be sure to call up your friends and family and see how they are doing. Play board games virtually, hangout through apps or virtually eat dinner together. We hope these activities bring some joy to the craziness out there. Remember to stay safe and healthy!
