We recently came across DayOne Response which develops and supplies innovative solutions for disaster relief specifically for clean drinking water.
DayOne Response distributes water and sanitation products globally to relief organizations, government agencies, public and private entities. DayOne Response supports the Procter & Gamble Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program’s goal to deliver more than 2 billion liters of clean drinking water each year by 2020.
DayOne Purification Waterbag ™ is a personal water treatment backpack that enables people to purify dirty water easily in a complete all-in-one device for water collection, transport, treatment, and protected storage. DayOne also makes it easy to sponsor a waterbag for disaster relief and donates 600 liters of clean drinking water to disaster relief partners for every waterbag purchased.
The DayOne Purification Waterbag with the P&G™ Purifier of Water packets provides all four of the functions needed to treat and safely store drinking water: collection, transportation, treatment, and hygienic storage. It is compactly designed for use in situations such as outdoor recreation, hiking, backpacking, fishing, hunting, emergency situations, and natural disasters where the drinking water supply has been depleted or is of unknown quality.
The DayOne Response 10-liter (2.5-gallon) family-sized water purification unit contains an integrated filter and has backpack straps. The multi-treatment processes include P&G™ Purifier of Water flocculant/disinfectant packets and a 0.2-micron micro-filter. The treatment removes or destroys: bacteria, viruses, cysts, dirt, soil, sediment, pollutants, and arsenic. The waterbag can be stored at room temperature for 10 years from the date of manufacture. P&G™ Purifier of Water can be stored for 3 years from date of manufacture.
You never know when disaster will strike and access to clean drinking water will become difficult. The DayOne Waterbag™ is something every home should consider having so access to safe drinking water will be at hand when it is needed most.
