Ginger Green Tea and Chicken
Ginger has been grown throughout tropical Asia for thousands of years where it has a long history of use both in its dried and fresh forms. Ginger may have originated in India. It seems to have a most ideal climate for the plant. Because it was common to carry ginger plant on sea baring vessels traveling the common maritime routes between India and China it is quite possible that this is how the plant originally came to be exported from its native land.
Medicinally, ginger is best known for its ability to treat nausea. Ginger has beaten placebos in studies at calming travel sickness, morning sickness and chemotherapy induced nausea. Ginger is also great for getting rid of chills and fevers and relieving sinus congestion.
Ingredients
• 2/3 pound chicken boneless chicken breast
• 2 teaspoons lemon juice
• 1/2 tablespoon powdered green tea
• ½ tablespoon ground parsley
• 1 shallot, minced
• 2 slices fresh ginger root
• 2 tablespoons peanut oil
Serves 4
Preparation
1. Slice the chicken into finger sized strips and place in a non-metal bowl.
2. Add lemon, green tea, parsley and shallot and mix well.
3. Add oil to a large non-stick frying pan and heat oil and ginger until it becomes aromatic.
4. Remove the ginger and add the chicken mixture. Sautee over high heat until the chicken is cooked through. Serve over a bed of rice or noodles.
Green tea garlic bread
Garlic is an extremely medicinally beneficial and flavorful ingredient that adds a wonderful flavor to any dish. Studies have shown its oils to be good for staving off colds, preventing cancer and promoting anti-aging. Garlic consumption has been shown to help reduce cholesterol levels and may keep blood clots form forming. Garlic is best kept in a cool, dry place with good air circulation but not in a refrigerator. Under good conditions fresh globes should keep for several months. Toss out any bruised or obviously damaged bulbs because they are insect magnets. Blanch the cloves for optimum peeling. Smash the cloves with the flat side of a knife then allow it to stand for approx. 15 minutes before adding it to your dish. This will allow the chemical agents within the garlic to interact, giving you the most flavor and health benefit.
Ingredients
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 1 cup unbleached white flour
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ teaspoon powdered green tea
• 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 1/3 cup cheese, grated
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted
• 1 egg, beaten
• ¾ cup buttermilk
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix together flours, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add garlic, green tea and cheese and mis well.
3. Whisk butter, egg and buttermilk in a medium bowl.
4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together, kneading with your hands. Form the dough into a ball.
5. Roll the dough into a long stick. Take a knife and cut six slices across the top (about ¼ inches deep).
6. Place on a floured baking tray or bread stone and bake for 35-40 minutes.
7. Remove from the oven. Place on a wire rack and allow to cool.

Ingredients
• 1 cup strawberries, frozen and thawed
• 3 cups water
• 2 1/2 tablespoons green tea leaves
• 3/4 cup, plus 2 tablespoons sugar
Preparation
• In a small saucepan bring water to a boil. Allow to cool slightly.
• Add tea leaves. Cover pan and steep tea 5 minutes.
• Add sugar, stirring until dissolved, and strain tea through a fine sieve into a bowl.
• Add strawberries. Chill tea, covered, until cold then freeze.
