Peaches and Cream is a traditional summertime dessert that you can easily incorporate into you daily water routine to add some variety and give yourself a tasty treat while staying hydrated at the same time.
Although peaches are available year round, May through October is the season of the peach. Peaches are low in calories and contain no saturated fats. The peach is packed with numerous vitamins and are rich in many vital minerals including potassium, fluoride and iron.
When selecting peaches, the fruit should have a pleasingly sweet fragrance. Look for a creamy gold to yellow under color, the red or “blush” of a peach is an indication of variety, not ripeness. Peaches should be soft to the touch but not mushy; don’t squeeze peaches as they bruise easily.
Ingredients:
5 peaches, thinly sliced
8 vanilla beans, sliced down the middle
2 tbsp honey
1/2 gallon water
Directions:
Warm the honey and stir into the water. Once the water has cooled, add the peaches and vanilla beans. Refrigerate for at least four hours, add ice if desired.
