The blueberry is often thought of as the world’s healthiest fruit. They are not only the second most popular berry (after strawberries), the humble little blueberry also repeatedly ranks as having one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits, vegetables, spices and seasonings.
Choose blueberries that are firm and have a uniform hue colored with a whitish bloom. Shake the container to see if the berries have the tendency to move freely; if they do not, this may indicate that they are soft or moldy. When purchasing frozen berries, shake the bag gently to ensure that the berries move freely and are not clumped together which may suggest that they have been thawed and refrozen.
Ingredients:
10-12 blueberries*
1 lemon slice
2-3 orange slices
Chill in the refrigerator for 4-8 hours and up to 24 hours for maximum flavor
*You can use frozen blueberries which are far cheaper than fresh picked. If you do use frozen let this water infuse at room temperature for a few hours before chilling in the fridge.
