That time has come, a moment most parents dread. Going off to college can be fun, but it can also be a little scary, especially for parents who want to make sure their child is well-prepped to handle the big move. In Fall 2018, about 19.9 million students will attend American colleges and universities. Move-in day can go by fast and next thing you know, your child is all moved in and you are sending care packages of everything you forgot to pack. That’s why we created a guide to help you and your eager student get settled in their new dorm.
Comfortable Clothing
Our first time away from home, we packed way too much clothes (most were never worn). We recommend going for the comfortable clothes that can be worn to class, out with friends, and basically anywhere. It will save a lot of time and money.
Now, we are not sure how messy your kid is, but we remember our days in college. The only days we really cleaned were when the parents were in town. Make sure to pack some Clorox Wipes, laundry cleaner, trash bags, and dish soap. Hopefully your kid is a little less messy than the rest of us!
Electronics
We are sure your kid has got this one planned. A few college necessities can include a printer, extension cords, laptop, and surge protector. Maybe even a subscription to Netflix or Hulu?
Toiletries and Snacks
This seems like a no brainer, but you’ll definitely want to make sure they are stocked up on toiletries and snacks. With Amazon around these days, it’s a lot easier to get this stuff delivered. Your kid will most likely (hopefully) remember the toothpaste, toothbrush, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. But they may forget the aspirin, vitamins, cough drops and other essentials that will help them get through the winter colds and flus.
Don’t forget your Glasstic Water Bottle! Water is definitely a necessity. Glasstic is the perfect water bottle to accompany any new adventure. The customizable design lets you personalize your bottle based off your outfit, event, and activity. It will be the perfect companion to class, sporting events, and just lounging in the dorm. The bottle is made from glass so it tastes great and it’s shatterproof.
Now, go off and help your kid enjoy their first few days of college!
